Ah, City Life (and general humanity)

Three things I saw this evening while walking to and from the grocery store:

  • A man riding a bicycle with a backpack strapped to his chest like a Baby Bjorn with a kitty cat peeking out the top.
  • A man in line behind me with 3 bags of frozen mini corn dogs, and 3 boxes of frozen mini Morningstar veggie corn dogs.  Somebody REALLY likes mini corn dogs.  Or is hosting a theme party.  In which the theme is…mini corn dogs.
  • A deaf couple having an argument in sign language.

There was also a women standing in front of the Giordano’s near me dressed in a beige suit, with matching beige shoes, staring at the moon.  I walked by and she said, “Isn’t the moon beautiful tonight?”  Well, yes, it was, so I sort of uneasily said, “Uh huh…”  And she said, “God is truly great” and started walking toward me and I picked up pace and hurried away.  My guess is she was either a Mormon or a cult recruiter.
I drank three Diet Cokes to try to stay up late enough to do housework and watch gymnastics and I’m still tired.  Blargh.  (however, this is NOT sickie tired, just …dang, it’s Thursday night, I’m tired)

ETA:  Best wisecrack I’ve heard yet about the Chinese gymnasts–they need to be carbon dated and disqualified.  Hee.

I love those random Chicago observations! Sometimes I don’t believe the stuff I see/hear here!
