Migraines – Yay!

June 24, 2008

Okay, not a common cause for celebration, but compared to the alternatives, I say, YAY!
I am having migraines caused by the irritation of a nerve from the shingles virus.  But this is a big yay because migraines are quite treatable and I was able to start on a medication for them today.
My doc says otherwise the shingles seems to be much better, and in three days or so I should feel back to normal.
Apparently, my doctor always gives me three days to feel better.  This was my mother’s observation. Soo…kinda funny, huh?
Anyway, no spinal tap, not even an MRI.  Just a once over, prescription, and pat on the head.  Which many of you probably predicted.
Hey, this is a pretty drama-free blog–let me have my moments, okay?! ;)

T-Minus 1 Hour…

June 24, 2008

I have a follow up appointment with my doctor today.  I called yesterday because I was getting awful headaches & nausea late in the day for the past week.  He though that seemed, “Weird” and wanted me to come in.
It is never reassuring when your doctor says something is weird.
I’m trying not to fret and I am sure everything will be fine, but after doing some reading on the internet (note: NEVER DO THIS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AS YOU WILL ONLY SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF YOURSELF!!) I am absolutely irrationally freaked out about potentially having to get a spinal tap.
I can’t even link to anything because the mere thought makes me want to vomit.  Just ask Hilly, who in fact had one recently.
An MRI or CT scan would be a very expensive annoyance, but preferred any day of the year.
Actually, I will probably just get a once over and a new prescription and be patted on the head and sent on my merry way.
I hope.
In other news, to take my mind off my own health troubles by supporting those who are far worse off than I, I’ve signed up again (at last!) to be a Chemo Angel.  My patient assignment came yesterday.  I love, love, LOVE this program.  Please, if you can, think about volunteering yourself.  It really is the most wonderful volunteer program I’ve ever participated in.  And if you don’t have a lot of money or time, sign up to be a Card Angel.  That’s what I opted for this time around, and I’m just as excited as ever.
