Shingles Update, Day #5 or So

June 11, 2008

Today is definitely the best I’ve felt since I first discovered I had this rotten virus.  Monday I was so exhausted I couldn’t stand it, yesterday I was less tired but in more pain.  Today I am in pain (left ear, neck, throat) but feeling physically much better than the previous two days.  I’m trying to stick to no more than 1/2 a Vicodin every four hours or so and praying that this will go away sooner than the predicted 5 week recovery period. :p
Last night I took a walk with H. , which was really nice but also rather tiring.  It’s sad and frustrating to go from training for a 5K to barely being able to walk 45 minutes without needing to come home and collapse.  But, eventually I’ll be better and all will be back to normal.
I’ve been very, very lucky in that I have friends who have offered anything and everything they can to help, a family that checks in on me daily, and a boyfriend who makes a really awesome nurse.  Work has also been good to me–extremely flexible and understanding which helps to minimize the stress and fatigue I’d otherwise have compounding my already sicky state.
Eh, maybe it’s the Vicodin talking, but for a virus this nasty, I’m really in a good place all around.
ETA: Hm, looks like I am going to need a lunchtime nap after all. But still! Overall, much better!
