Ah, City Life

June 6, 2008

Last night I was coming home on the train and was privvy to a funny conversation.  One guy was wearing a Black Sox cap.  We will refer to him as “guy in hat”.  Another guy started talking to him…
Other guy:  Dude, you need to get a new hat. A CUBS hat.
Random guy on train: Yeah!
Guy in Hat:  Aww, no way man! This is my dressy hat!
(pause)
Guy in Hat:  Anyway I didn’t know you cared about baseball!
Other Guy:  Man, I don’t give a S*** about baseball!

Yes, everyone in this conversation was totally sober.  The remark about it being the guy’s “dressy hat” (because it’s black?) almost had me on the floor laughing.

I am soooo glad it’s Friday.  Work has been nuts this week.  In a good way–I am closing some jobs and working on others that are very high profile.  It’s nice feeling like your job counts for something.  But I am tired.  I’ve been fighting this cold off all week and it’s centered in my left ear.  Last night my ear hurt so bad I couldn’t sleep.  It feels a bit better and somewhat less congested today, and I don’t have a fever.  In fact, I felt perfectly fine until today–and I think I’m mostly just exhausted because I didn’t sleep last night.  Dr. Mom thinks this will pass without having to go to the doc, and I tend to agree with her.  Hopefully a quiet night in and lots of sleep will kick it out of my system, because I have a big weekend ahead, including bowling with Kilax and Kapgar and….

(my personal VERY favorite thing about summer)
RIBFEST!!!!!!!!
Damn right I’m making that a cheat day to suck down some delicious ribs, grilled corn, AND a deep fried Snickers Bar.  Mmmmm….Fried Chocolate…. *Drool*
