I have an embarrassing pair of wounds on my face. My chin, to be exact. One is so incredibly gross that I’ve been putting a bandaid over it because, actually? A bandaid on my face looks better than this thing in its natural state.
Basically I had two nasty pimples that somehow degenerated into my face peeling off. I’m going to spare you the gory details because really, it’s gory. I dabbed a little bit of benzoyl peroxide ointment on both and have had bad reactions to it in the past, but never like this. Ick.
An old college chum of mine once broke his wrist by slamming his fist down on a desk. He was so embarrassed by/tired of sharing the real story that he started making stuff up. The stories grew more and more unbelievable until he started telling people things like he hurt himself wrestling a grizzly bear in the forest. I am thinking I need to come up with an equally captivating story. Because an injury to your face is that much more visible and that much more awkward, and “zit gone awry” is pretty embarrassing.
I’ve decided my story for now is that I’ve been training for a triathalon and wiped out while scaling a particularly big mountan on my bike. (note: I don’t even own a bike)
And since I’m finally sucking up and buying a Crackberry* this weekend, I decided I could make up another story about how I’m buying it as a reward for getting right back on that bike and riding again even after I split my face open.
Please note that I do not endorse lying and this is all meant to be very over-the-top and silly.
*Yes, I caved. Resistance is futile, we are Borg, etc etc. There were a few matters this week that could have been dealt with swiftly if had one, saving me the agony of worrying about them for hours until I could get to someplace where I could log into the interwebs. Two were work matters and ya know, I can write it off on my taxes, so there. Being chained to work may suck but I’d rather be able to deal with it immediately and move on vs. having no control and fretting about it. Yeah, it’s not an option for me not to fret about it, nice try.
