Considering how late I slept today, that shouldn’t even be possible. But things were intense in kitchen stadium…and a lot of wine was consumed…so I am just beat today. (also have terrible cramps in my lower arms and hands from all the stirring, cutting, coring, and stirring!)
Tomorrow I’m going in to the office so I wanted to take a moment to blog because I know tomorrow is going to be hectic. After work, I need to hit the stores on State St. in attempt to find a new suitcase before I leave town on Saturday morning!
Anyway, Iron Chef Midwest Division was a blast. Unfortunately I only got ONE picture the whole night because we were so busy cooking.
I won on a technicality. E.’s poor friend had to ditch his dessert in the trash. I’m not even sure what happened, but someone got a little ambitious, and the combination of drinking and exhaustion didn’t make for a good state in which to be ambitious on the dessert front.
Here’s the full menu (the ones in bold are my dishes):
Fondue with wine and gouda
Beer bread with warm beer cheese dip
Texas beer chili
Pork loin marinated in beer and orange juice
Buttered Rum Baked Apples
Orange Rum Cake
Apple tarts with grand marnier whipped cream (sadly never made it to the table)

I knew you would win
That beer cheese dip sounds yummy!
I still wish we could have come! But with all that crazy snow last night, I feel safer that we stayed at home

Talk about good times! Too bad you and my best friend were doing all the work while the rest of us sat on our butts playing “Rock Band”… Still, you had more time on the guitar than I did, and looked like such a natural doing it too.
(And let us never speak of my karaoke’ing of “Maps” again… I could’ve sung any other song just fine, and was itching to do “Paranoid”, but noo, my other band-mates wanted to pick a song from the “easy” category…
)
