Bleh, even being near the computer is no fun to me right now. The last 3 days or so of being disconnected have been AWESOME. I am not looking forward to working tomorrow, but at least it’s only two days and it should be quiet.
By the way, apparently I have had cable service all along and have my computer hooked up with a direct connection right now. Ohhhhkay. I don’t know what exactly Comcast is going to do tomorrow, but hopefully it doesn’t result in me NOT having cable. I have another funny (and by funny I mean dumb) Comcast story, but right now I want to get back to baking a pie.
Normally the 4th of July has been no big deal to me–it usually meant vacation or fireworks or burgers and beer. But for some reason this year I am really struck (possibly because H. sent me a copy of the Constitution) by how this country was started and what it is all supposed to mean. The founders of the U.S.A. were rebels in the truest sense. They overthrew the shackles of a government they disagreed with. And they believed fiercely in liberty. I think from now on I will reflect on the 4th of July with a lot more seriousness (and wonder where it all went wrong).
But that aside, enjoy some barbecue and fireworks! I know I will!
